Music and cheese --
a match made in marketing
Beginning today, users that make orders on PizzaHut.com can download 75 MP3s at no cost, courtesy of eMusic.
Free tracks come with an order of either the Pizza Mia, Tuscani Pasta, WingStreet Wings or any other Pizza Hut specials. The music has no digital rights management protection — meaning users can play them on any MP3 player or share them with friends.
"The same customers who order online from pizzahut.com are also big fans of downloading music online, so this promotion is a natural fit," said VP Bob Kraut of Marketing Communications at Pizza Hut.
"Seventy-five free tunes is a lot of music. This is something that eMusic has never been able to offer before and we're proud to be the first to bring this exclusive offer to our customers."
The promotional period lasts between November 5 and December 27. After placing an order on the Pizza Hut website, users select 25 free promotional songs from a Pizza Hut playlist, in addition to any 50 songs from eMusic's catalog — which consists of about four million songs.
There's just one catch: to take advantage of that additional 50 tracks, users must register for a 14-day free trial of eMusic. Those that fail to cancel the trial will be charged $11.99 per month.
Earlier this year, Pizza Hut ran a campaign enabling customers to text-message orders to the nearest franchise.
