Following news that Arby’s is joining Plink’s Facebook Credits loyalty program, PepsiCo is partnering with reward company Kiip for a similar offering. It will give fitness enthusiasts 'achievement rewards' when they log a run through fitness apps such as Nexercise and MapMyRUN, eConsultancy reports.
So after a workout, bike ride or run, customers can receive PepsiCo's Propel Zero drinks mix packets. PepsiCo director of digital engagement Jason Thalappillil told eConsultancy the reward program is a way to target consumers when they’re the most engaged, "while providing an opportunity for our brand to reward them for being active."
Kiip’s Focus on Fitness Moments
Last week Kiip, which has developed a real-world rewards network for mobile-game achievements, announced it was branching into fitness apps. The reward system is still the same for either games or fitness apps, CEO Brian Wong told VentureBeat. "We are finally billing ourselves as a true rewards layer," Wong said. "In this case, we are trying to harness the achievement moments that already exist in fitness and tying rewards to them."
