Penthouse Purchases Myriad Social Network Communities

Religion, romantic love
find Penthouse

Penthouse Media has bought Various Inc. and subsequently the 25 social networking sites it operates, reports The New York Times.

The purchase came at a price of $500 million for sites primarily geared toward allowing members of niche communities find each other — in the romantic sense.

Sites include GradFinder, which connects college graduates, and BigChurch, which targets people looking for those with similar spiritual leanings.

The sites reportedly enjoy a user base of over 260 million people.

Penthouse says it will be holding on to all the sites for now as it seeks intuitive opportunities for integration. That leaves open the possibility it may sell specific sites at a later date if they prove an uncomfortable fit.
