PayPal Gives Users Online Debit Cards

Nothing 'priceless' about it

PayPal is launching the PayPal Secure Card, which allows members to make purchases on non-PayPal-supported e-commerce sites.

The downloadable software automatically recognizes when a user lands on a payment form, then helps fill it out securely with stepped-up fraud protections, reports Reuters.

The technology was made possible through a partnership with MasterCard, which creates a unique MasterCard number each time a PayPal user arrives at a checkout page.

The technology is PayPal's aggressive response to Google Checkout, which saves user information to make the shopping experience easy. PayPal's new service has been tested by 3 million PayPal customers in the past year.

Owned by parent company eBay, PayPal has some 37.5 million active accounts and 164 million accounts worldwide.
