Paramount to Sell Virtual Merchandise in Habbo

Examples of virtual goods

Habbo and Paramount Digital have closed a deal whereby Habbo creates and merchandises virtual goods on "at least three of the studio's films," reports Reuters.

Films include Beowulf, Mean Girls and The Spiderwick Chronicles.
Alex Carloss, a VP with Paramount Digital, said the move is a branding strategy for new films, as well as a fresh microtransaction-based revenue stream for the firm.

On Paramount's behalf, Habbo shall sell items such as clothing and furniture.

Habbo touts some 1.8 million North American teens and a virtual population of 8 million.
