Paramount Enlists Clearspring for 'Indiana Jones' Widget Promo

A far cry from the
Holy Grail days

Paramount is kicking off a promotion for the latest "Indiana Jones" film. The two fans who distribute a widget of the trailer across the most media will score tickets to the world premiere.

Winners will also become red carpet correspondents. Footage of their debut will be streamed onto the widgets following the premiere, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Paramount tapped Clearspring to handle back-end work for the widgets. The company is also building widgets for the upcoming Mike Myers film, "The Love Guru," which will appear on the film's MySpace page. Eight to 10 virals and teasers will be uploaded to "Guru" widgets.

Paramount previously partnered with Clearspring on a widget campaign for the film "Cloverfield." Clearspring also produced a daily fortune cookie widget for Dreamworks' upcoming "Kung Fu Panda," and other recent releases from Warner Bros., Sony and Fox.

A recent eMarketer report finds widgets are wiggling more aggressively into marketing budgets. $40 million is expected to be spent on widget marketing by US companies in 2008.
