Orkut Database Hacked into Open (But Nicely Displayed)

SearchEngineWatch: Google's Orkut Personal Information Offered Outside Orkut

Author's "private" data

Social network Orkut apparently had a major security breech, allowing a programmer to create an application that lets people type in a name to find a map of that person's connected friends across the U.S. The information seems a little old (the image above is the author's pathetically small network, which did grow a little bit from this some months ago). Danny Sullivan wrote up a comprehensive piece on the story, including an interview with the person who built the application. Site owner Google had not yet commented by the time this summary was posted.
