Orbitz to Cook Up Flight Plan-Oriented Social Network

Travel planning site Orbitz is set to roll out a social network allowing customers to share information amongst themselves, reports Brandweek.

The OrbitzTLC Traveler Update system will not only update fliers on flight status. It also allows users to send updates on security wait times, parking and other details crucial to a trip to the airport. Users then receive a rating based on how useful others found their information.

Orbitz plans to push the new system on message boards frequented by fliers, as well as with outdoor displays in major cities. The company is also reaching out to bloggers to give them feedback on Traveler Update, in the hopes of simultaneously spreading the word.
