The Day: Experts Mull Whether Internet Users Should Have A License Before Going Online

There are some that feel a license should be required prior to using the Internet. According to one Internet security expert, people should achieve a certain level of competence through training just as they do prior to receiving a driver’s license.

"It could be a four-year college degree, a one-month course. It might be a good idea," said Bruce Schneier, chief technology officer for Counterpane Internet Security Inc.

Apart from the fact that this will never happen, the notion of imparting a modicum of knowledge to Internet users would certainly rein in much of the idiocy we see on a daily basis.
