Online was the one line item providing a ray of light on Gannett Co.'s earnings statement, reports MediaPost.
Revenue numbers from the sites associated with Gannett-owned TV stations were up 33.5 percent in the second quarter of the year. While visitor stats were up for its newspaper sites, no separate breakout of revenue increases was included.
The growth in visitor numbers, as well as the revenue increases from TV station sites, suggest Gannett is well-positioned to benefit from the increase in spending expected to occur in the local online ad market.
One estimate has Gannett standing to see $480 million in revenue this year from its various web properties.
