ABC's decision last month to begin streaming episodes of hit shows on ABC.com seems to be working, at least in the sense of increasing traffic to the site, which attracted 8.03 million unique visitors in May - a 69 percent increase over May 2005, reports MediaPost, citing Nielsen/NetRatings numbers. The network is in the midst of a two-month test to gauge consumer interest.
Although ABC.com has benefited from the experiment, with 10 advertisers on board as sponsors, it's growth lags NBC.com's; the number of unique users to the NBC site increased 117 percent, to 7.95 million in May.
The Fox website drew the most unique users of the Big 4 networks' sites, 8.51 million unique users in May - a 66 percent increase over last year - though that includes traffic to AmericanIdol.com.
