For the first half of 2005, online retail sales were up 25.2 percent compared with the first half of last year, reaching $36.6 billion from $29.3 billion, reports Internet Retailer, citing comScore figures. For the week ended July 3, online sales were up 34 percent over the corresponding week a year ago, reaching $1.17 billion from $872 million - the fourth-highest weekly growth this year in percentage terms.
Online travel sales for the week ended July 3 were up 38 percent, to $1.3 billion from $948 million in the corresponding week a year ago.
Total retail sales for the week ending July 2 were up 6.3 percent from the same week a year ago, according to ShopperTrak's National Retail Sales Estimate.
