iMedia: Wealthy Lead Online Growth
The top income level - households making more than $150,000 - was the one that saw the most online access growth in 2003, according to Nielsen//NetRatings. The group was also the smallest, which allowed it to win the growth competition by adding fewer new members than almost all the other groups.
The study also found that, while broadband has become vastly popular, only the groups that make $100,000 or more a year show a broadband penetration greater than 50 percent.
