Oakland Trib: Web Ad-venture; Internet sites pursue ways to stay free, make money
A long, meandering piece of original reporting about the state of online ads from Sunday's Okland Tribune. Not sure what, if any, conclusion the piece reaches, but I always find it interesting to see what the mainstream press thinks of this sector. If nothing else, the piece recognizes that online ads are not totally a bust afterall, which had seemed to be the conclusion of most media for the past two years or so. The piece acknowledges that online ads are not going away anytime soon, though trends seem to make them both more relevant and more intrusive.
