Office Live Leaves Beta, Goes Live with adManager

Office Live, Microsoft's suite of products aimed at helping businesses create a website and develop online advertising for it, has left beta testing is now available.

The web-based program, which had been in beta for the last eight months, offers businesses website building and hosting, email accounts and customer management tools, CNET reports. As expected, Office Live includes the beta of Office Live adManager, which competes with Google AdWords and lets users purchase online advertising for Microsoft's msn.com and Windows Live Search properties, reports PC World.

Microsoft also hopes to add the ability to purchase ads for Google, Yahoo and Ask.com search engines in the next six months.

Besides the free version, Microsoft is also selling two premium versions with more services, such as more storage space and additional email accounts, with monthly subscriptions. The international release of the online suite of products will be Nov. 21.

The release of Office Live is the latest move in Microsoft's strategy to compete with Google and others now offering web-based applications.
