The Obama campaign has begun running banner ads on the sites of 26 local media outlets, TV stations, newspapers and radio stations in Ohio and Texas as primaries near.
The buys represent the first significant move a presidential candidate has made in the local ad field this campaign cycle.
The ads feature embedded video of Obama. The videos differ by site.
The campaign recently made an ad purchase through Broadband Enterprise's online ad network to place video ads on streaming content across local sites it works with. The ads were geo-targeted and ran on media sites in the two soon-to-be contested states.
