New Zealand Herald: Domain Names NZ promises refund
Following up on the August 9 story, Domain Names NZ agreed to offer refunds to unhappy customers after the company's mass mailing efforts to sell co.nz owners to net.nz were seen as misleading by the New Zealand Commerce Commission.
"The commission is concerned that current registrants of .co.nz may be being misled into thinking they are paying to re-register their current domain name," said fair trading director Deborah Battell. Some recipients of the mailing complained that the letter looked like an invoice and the payment address was a "virtual office."
