NYT, NBC to Partner on Election '08 Coverage

The New York Times and NBC announced the two news organizations will collaborate on coverage of the 2008 Presidential election, reports The New York Times.

The two parties will give each other first access to reporting that they do. Assets, such as pictures, will be shared freely between the two while on the campaign trail. The Times will also bring its Caucus blog to MSNBC.com.

The partnership seeks to bring the strengths of each one to augment the weaknesses of the other. The NYT, for example, doesn't have nearly as much video as NBC News.

There was a small hint at the end of Times editor Bill Keller's statement that this may just be the beginning of a beautiful friendship that may last beyond the election cycle.
