November Search Share: Google & Bing Increase Marginally

Google Sites led the US core search market in November with 65.6% of search queries conducted, according to recently released data from comScore, Inc.'s Media Metrix Service.  (via MarketingCharts).

Google was followed by #2 Yahoo Sites with a 17.5% share (down 0.5 points from October) and #3 Microsoft Sites at 10.3% (a 0.4 point increase from October). Ask Network captured 3.8% of the search market, followed by AOL LLC with 2.8%.

comScore’s November search-share numbers indicate that Google's share has risen marginally, from 65.4% in October. In December, Experian Hitwise, which uses a different methodolody than comScore, reported that Google accounted for 71.6% of all US searches conducted in the four weeks ending Nov. 28, 2009, a 1% month-over-month gain vs. the 70.6% share it had in October.

The other three largest search engines in the Hitwise ranking, Yahoo Search, Bing and Ask.com received 15.4%, 9.3%and 2.7%, respectively. Yahoo and Bing showed declines in search share, while Ask.com’s share increased slightly.

The remaining 52 search engines in the Hitwise Search Engine Analysis Tool accounted for 1.07% of US searches.
