Nov. Searches Down 3%; Google Share at 63.5%

Google Sites again have the largest share of the US core search market, rising slightly in November 2008 to account for nearly two-thirds of all searches conducted, according to data released by comScore (via MarketingCharts).

During November, Americans conducted 12.3 billion core searches, a three-percent decline vs. October. This decrease is primarily attributed to November having one less day in the month.

Google Sites led the US core search market in November with 63.5% of the searches conducted, up 0.4 percentage points from October, followed by Yahoo Sites (20.4%), Microsoft Sites (8.3%), Ask Network (4.0%), and AOL LLC (3.8%).

Of the 12.3 billion searches conducted by Americans at core search engines, Google Sites handled 7.8 billion, followed by Yahoo Sites with 2.5 billion and Microsoft Sites with 1 billion.

November US Expanded Search Rankings

In the comScore November 2008 analysis of the top properties where search activity is observed, Google Sites led with 10.8 billion searches, flat vs. October. Yahoo Sites ranked second with 2.6 billion searches, followed by Microsoft Sites with 1.1 billion and AOL LLC with 725 million.
