Not Surprisingly, Broadband Users Watch TV, Movies Online

Findings from two Nielsen units show a vast majority of broadband households are watching TV or movie content online, reports Broadcasting & Cable.

According to the report from Nielsen's NetViews and NetRatings services, 81 million people watched such programming online during March of this year. That makes up 63 percent of 129 million total who have broadband Internet connections.

The study defines "movies" broadly, including videos from Yahoo Movies, which houses only movie trailers and clips.

ABC led the television network category as the top broadband video destination. The study concludes that a better user interface and increased programming choices can only serve to increase the market penetration of video content.
