Joseph Abboud and Nordstrom have launched a B2B iPad app that is a combo multipurpose selling tool and a simplified ordering system.
The iPad Made-to-Measure app lets Nordstrom customers browse a full range of Joseph Abboud fabrics, select a style preference and silhouette that fits his body type and review previously purchased Joseph Abboud garments in the customer profile closet. The purchase process includes custom suiting details including lapels, pockets and vents. The order is then immediately placed with the Joseph Abboud factory in New Bedford, MA.
B2B Reaches into the Dressing Room
The app is an example of the inroads marketing technology is making into the B2B space. Other examples include B2B's use of location-based services, QR codes and Twitter and Facebook platforms.
With the unveiling of the iPad 3, B2B apps for this device—especially in the small business space—are expected to grow. Already, 54% of global IT and business professionals say that their iPad has partly replaced their laptop, while a further 16% say it has completely replaced their laptop, according to a survey released in January 2012 by IDG Connect.
