Nokia Debuts Media Phones, Plans Free Music Service

Nokia has unveiled two new high-end media phones in its N-series, as well as a new mass-market music-enabled phone, and plans to offer a free music service.

The two new Nokia phone models, the N75 and N95, come with media-centric features: the N95 offers the first 5-megapixel digital camera in a mobile phone, and the N75 features dedicated music-player controls, Reuters explains. Nokia also annouced the mass-market 5300 XpressMusic, a cell phone that can play and store music - up to 1,500 tracks. It will be available early next year.

Nokia is also creating a free music service called Music Recommenders, which will allow customers to learn about new artists and music from around the world.

The N95 is aimed at the European and Asian markets, and the N75 is aimed at the U.S. The N75 will be available by Q4 and is based on a high-speed wireless technology used by Cingular Wireless.
