Nielsen Acquires IAG Research


Nielsen has announced it will buy rival IAG Research for $225 million, reports Mediaweek.

The acquisition shall mesh Nielsen's statistical expertise to IAG's experience with measuring engagement. Where Nielsen produces hard numbers on viewership and audience reach, IAG measures how effective commercials are at engaging audiences.

The combination will yield useful data for planning engagement and integrated marketing efforts.

Finalization of the acquisition will happen by June's end, pending regulatory approval.
