Digital sites in the Nickelodeon Kids and Family Group portfolios enjoyed the most traffic in the "Family & Lifestyles – Kids, Games & Toys" category, according to a January report by comScore Media Metrix.
The 28.7 million unique visits to the properties amounted to 13% more visits than the same period last year. Visitors averaged about 91.8 minutes on the sites — again, 13% over last year. Properties serve kids, tweens, teens and parents. Best-known sites include Nick.com, NickJr.com, The-N.com, Neopets, Shockwave, AddictingGames, ParentsConnect, and NOGGIN.
All told, the Nickelodeon Kids and Family Group is ranked fifth among top brands by video streams, falling just behind YouTube, Yahoo, Hulu and Fox (which owns MySpace). It delivered 204 million streams, up 1% vs. last month, and 6.3 million unique video viewers.
Between kids 2-11 and 6-11, Nickelodeon Kids and Family Group ranked number-two among the top brands, behind only You Tube, generating 53 million video streams and 29 million streams, respectively. The Label also moved up three places, to No. 2, among women 18-49 for the month — with 86 million streams and 1.9 million unique video viewers.
More highlights:
- Total visits numbered 131 million (up 4% over last year) and 2.0 billion page views.
- AddictingGames, the top independent gaming site since February 2007, had its best month in terms of time spent: an average of 55.8 minutes were wiled away on the site, up 154% over last year. It also had its best month ever among its male 12-24-year-old demo: 2.1 million uniques, up 44%.
- ParentsConnect properties enjoyed 1.2 million uniques and 1.7 million visits, growing 9% and 10%, respectively, over December 2008, and 212% in uniques over last year.
- Nick.com properties generated 10.5 million uniques for the month, rising 13% over last year.
- iCarly.com had 2.8 million uniques (a 20% gain over last year), visitors averaging 22.5 minutes — 9% gains.
