The National Hockey League has signed a deal with Sling Media that will allow users to share clips of hockey games online, reports The Associated Press.
The Clip+Sling service allows people to grab short snippets of programming and post them for others to view on the Sling website. Clips are then searchable.
The deal is a major step forward for Sling, which has seen most media companies react hesitantly to the idea of sharing content with viewers.
Major League Baseball has not been a fan of Sling's proposed service, since it allows people outside a team's home city to view clips from their games. The league has edged away from previous threats to sue, though.
The NHL will also supply its own content to the Sling Website in both short and long form.
