Poynter: Taking a Very Local Angle on Web

Newspapers have been slow to link to local blogs, according to Poynter Online, creating a vacuum that's being filled with sites aggregating local content. Localized blog sites include one linking New York City blogs by subway stop and a North Carolina site promoting blogs from the "First in Flight" state. By sticking to a combination of staff reports and syndicated national news, local newspapers may be giving these alternative sites a big head start and creating competition.
