Newegg.com, a web-only electronics retailer, has launched a tech-based community site, according to Internet Retailer. The company is also planning a tech encyclopedia.
Eggxpert is positioned as a destination for computer and tech aficionados. It will include a newsletter, an advice blog and product reviews written by technology experts.
A "personal space" was included in the design to encourage visitors to "get to know one another on a deeper level than simply as casual chat friends," said Internet Retailer via Newegg.
Eggipedia, a technology database, is also in the works. This wiki-based mindshare is expected to become a free-content encyclopedia for "all things technological." The database will hit the Internet this summer.
Newegg.com serves over six million registered customers.
