SearchEngineLowdown reports that contextual targeting firm Blinkx.tv launched a new TV-oriented video search engine. Perhaps more interestingly, the engine allows for the contextual placement of video ads among that content. Blinkx is testing out a couple different business models. In one, it would act much like a cable network, creating backroom distribution deals. In the other, it would follow the web-like model of selling advertising against contextually-targeted video content - making it a figurative AdSense of video. The targeting is based on spoken content within the video, as captured by voice recognition software.
