Internet radio stations have until June 15th to begin paying new royalty fees, reports PC World.
The increased licensing fees were instituted by the Copyright Royalty Board and are a significant jump over previous rates.
Expecting to finalize the fee in April, the CRB delayed the ruling until May, garnering Internet stations extra time to fight it.
Stations contended higher royalty fees would effectively put them out of business. Several initiatives are presently winding their way through Congress to reverse the rate hike.
