NBC's new-media publicity campaign for its primetime shows will present select episodes online, along with blogs by show creators and cast members.
NBC will stream new fall primetime TV shows online for free, supported by advertising, hours after their broadcast premieres, reports CNET. Episodes of shows such as Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Heroes and Kidnapped will be available online until each show's next installment, accessible via NBC 24/7 video player on NBC's website. The effort is promotional, and not intended to replace paid downloads available via iTunes, for example.
The first to be streamed online will be Studio 60, on Sept. 18. Not all episodes of each show will be available: Only the first four of some, such as 30 Rock and Twenty Good Years, and eight episodes of other, such as Studio 60 and Heroes, will be available.
Also, "premiere blogs" will be published on the NBC site immediately after the debut episodes, written by cast and creative team members.
