NBC to Launch Web-only 'Office' Original Episodes

NBC has filmed 10 webisodes of "The Office" and will release them, one a week, this summer on NBC.com - the first time that the network has created web-only programs, writes MediaPost. The two-minute wepisodes focus on the incompetent attempts of paper-supply company Dunder Mifflin's accounting department to figure out how $3,000 has vanished.

"The Office" has twice in recent weeks scored as NBC's top telecast of the week among adults 18-34. NBC is experimenting with online strategies, offering ad-supported programming on its site as well as selling and giving away episodes of shows on iTunes and MSN Video.

NBC webcast the premiere of "The Office" on MySpace.com in March 2005, more than one week before it ran on TV.
