NYT: NBC Hopes Short Movies Will Keep Viewers From Flipping
How are big network TV execs attempting to battle itchy fingers on remotes during commercial breaks? Like a hammer looking for a nail, they will default to their favorite solution: women in skimpy underwear. That is, NBC is starting to experiment with mini movies during commercial breaks to keep the TiVo generation engaged during ad breaks, including "Pusscat Dolls," pictured here. The shorts, ranging from one to eight minutes in length, will typically be broken into shorter pieces so that audiences hang around through the commercials to see how they resolve.
