The New Media division of Turner Sports has created an interactive re-imagining of Nascar.com that more easily allows fans to follow drivers during the race - and to connect with each other online, according to MediaWeek.
The newly re-launched site features the currently Nextel-sponsored TrackPass RaceView, a 3-D application that allows fans to view a videogame-like animation of the race in progress. Also, a new Sportsvision-powered social networking aspect has been added.
Called Infield Community, the feature aims to bring fans together to discuss the race, drivers and more. Access to TrackPass will run $12.95 a month or $79.95 for a full year.
