MySpace.com Adds Comedy Section

A comedy section has been added at MySpace.com in an effort to generate revenue from the social networking site, with Sierra Mist a prominent product sponsor, writes paidContent. The section includes content from users but it's not user-generated; the emphasis seems to on commercial or sponsored content.

Pali Research's Richard Greenfield is quoted as saying, "Comedy also increases the use of viral video within MySpace as the comedy section is inherently linked into the 'Videos' section of Myspace. Comedy also increases the community aspect of MySpace, as users can add individual comedians…to their friends list and be alerted to live performances."
