MySpace Heading to China

Rupert Murdoch's wife, Wendy Deng, is working with News Corp. execs to create a Chinese version of the popular social-networking site.

Deng is visiting China with News. Corp executives in an attempt to develop a plan for MySpace to enter the Chinese market as seamlessly as possible, the Financial Times reports. MySpace wants to avoid the polticial obstacles that other companies such as Yahoo and Google have encountered when they entered China.

Murdoch plans to give local partners in China roughly half of the company, which would also ensure that the content on the Chinese version of MySpace is more suitable to the country's users. Moreover, having local partners means that News Corp. can more quickly and easily deal with problems that arise with the service.
