MySpace Declares Itself Political but Nonpartisan

Social network is encouraging members to register online to vote.

MySpace has partnered with nonpartisan youth voting campaign Declare Yourself to encourage members to vote in the upcoming midterm elections, reports Red Herring. Starting Wednesday, can register to vote and download tips for first-time voters at a Declare Yourself MySpace profile page. More than 80 percent of MySpace's 42 million members are age 18 or older, according to comScore Media Metrix.

MySpace members are twice as likely as average adults to look for information about politics and public affairs online, according to Nielsen/NetRatings.

MySpace ads and links on the homepage will drive traffic to the Declare Yourself page.
