MySpace party people today,
psychographic advertisers tomorrow
A new MySpace ad platform will empower the common man to build and serve banner ads to visitors, reports The Los Angeles Times.
Small businesses and individuals can create banner ads with templates provided by MySpace. Those ads can be targeted by audience characteristics.
Advertisers then pay per click.
MySpace has been building its targeting capabilities, breaking users into audience slices based on information they share and on details like blog topics, and what photos they share.
The announcement comes just a day before arch-rival Facebook is expected to reveal details of its own ad platform.
