MySpace Teens Begin Exodus to Facebook

MySpace? As If!

MySpace is increasingly losing its teenage demographic to rival Facebook, reports the Associated Press on new stats from comScore.

Though MySpace still has a commanding lead over Facebook, US visitors under 18 have fallen 30 percent over the past year for MySpace, while Facebook's teenager population rose by two and a half times. Total, MySpace has 4.7 million users under 18, compared with 4.3 million for Facebook.

Both sites showed growth in all age groups. MySpace grew 35 percent to 70 million users, while Facebook doubled to 28 million.

Up until late 2005, Facebook was only available to college students, while MySpace has always been open to everyone over the age of 14.
