To help relieve parents' fears that their children are at risk on MySpace, the social-networking site is adding software that will allow parents to track changes to their children's profiles.

The software, code-named Zephyr, will allow parents to discover MySpace profiles that have been created on a computer, including name, age, and location in those profiles, CNET reports. The software won't allow parents to change a profile, and children will be notified that their profiles are being monitored.

Several companies have created programs that allow parents to track their child's MySpace activity, but Zephyr is the first created by MySpace itself. The release date for Zephyr isn't yet known.

MySpace is likely to receive complaints about Zephyr, both from privacy advocates (and children) claiming that too much information is being divulged - and from parents claiming it doesn't give them enough information.
