Following the example of Apple's App Store, MySpace has launched an application gallery to showcase apps developed on the MySpace Developer Platform.
Most of the apps available are widgets users can embed on profiles. The gallery will not be prominent on the homepage; it is mainly intended for developers to test apps on users.
MySpace notably left the messaging API out, so applications are not yet able to do things like send bulletins or post comments to other profiles automatically.
Kyle Brinkman, VP and GM of the Myspace Developer Platform told Mashable it wants to tread very carefully with messaging due to application-related spam observed on networks like Facebook.
