MySpace, Fox Launch Search for TV Pilot

The greatest pilot ever?

MySpace will team up with News Corp sibling Fox Network, and the Producers Guild of America, to search for user-created TV pilots, reports NewTeeVee.

Called the "Storyteller Challenge," the search promises two winning entries a development deal to air their pilot on Fox, plus $25,000. Starting Sept. 4, "Storyteller" will ask for 5- to 7-minute TV pilots to be submitted via MySpace.

TechCrunch thinks the contest is a move to compete with Sony's recently launched Crackle.

The contest is similar to the canceled Fox reality game show "On the Lot," where aspiring directors compete for a movie deal. NewTeeVee points out the concept will work better on a social network, where building audience for shows comes naturally.
