Youku.com, a would-be Chinese version of YouTube, has entered a deal with MySpace China to target local markets.
The partnership involves traffic sharing between both properties and online product sharing, reports Reuters.
China had 210 million internet users at the end of last year and has since overtaken the US as the world's largest internet market, Beijing-based research firm said Thursday.
China has been reticent about enabling YouTube to build users on its soil, and the reasons are as much political as content-related. When YouTube launched in Taiwan, mainland servers stopped responding.
Youku may have better luck with the market. Since its launch in December 2006, native service Youku has served over 100 million daily video viewers daily, according to Nielsen/NetRatings.
