Mayor Carmen
Kontur-Gronquist
A MySpace bug was discovered last week that allows anyone to view photos set private by the user, including users who mark themselves "under age 14," which automatically renders their profiles private to anyone outside their networks.
The loophole was discussed on message boards as far back as three months. Wired cites an October forum exchange between two self-described "pedo soldiers" who posted photos of two teenage girls aged 15 and 16.
But underage youth are not the only ones bared to prying eyes. Photos of Mayor Carmen Kontur-Gronquist posing in lingerie on the community's fire engine surfaced over the weekend. Despite attacks on her moral fiber, the Arlington, Oregon mayor has refused to step down.
The news arrives at a tough time for MySpace, which just signed a deal with law officials in 49 states to make the social network safer.
