A new beta version of the My Yahoo personalized start page will begin gradually rolling out over the next few months, Yahoo announced Thursday, CNETÂ reports.
Users can now drag and drop modules for news, weather, games and the like; choose from a broader range of themes and backgrounds; and roll over pop-up previews to display additional information. The page template has been expanded to four columns to accommodate more content.
The personalized homepages will include features allowing users to share specific components of their start pages by email, and will also automatically feature content based around other Yahoo services that the beta testers use.
The revamp of My Yahoo, an early player in the personalized homepage market, comes amid increased competition. One of its own executives moved to startup Pageflakes last month, and Google released an updated version of its Desktop software on Wednesday.
