A shot of MusicStation's service
Omnifone's mobile music venture MusicStation has gone live with a subscription-based business model, reports The Register.
The MusicStation product allows access to unlimited music from four listed record labels in exchange for a small weekly fee. Users can not only listen to the music but are also encouraged to share them with friends that also use MusicStation. The service is available worldwide via 30 different mobile carriers and there is no per-song charge; instead, a regular fee is simply added to a customer's mobile usage fee.
Omnifone hopes the service will catch on with teens that may otherwise pirate music.
