Rupert Murdoch said News Corp. may form a company to enter the U.S. high-speed internet market, writes Reuters, citing a report in the Wall Street Journal, which quoted Murdoch as saying, "We may be forming a company with partners to build something out here (the U.S.) that would give you broadband." News Corp. controls top U.S. satellite TV service DirecTV Group but does not offer high-speed internet service.
Murdoch said when consumers begin using new high-definition home-video cameras they will want more two-way bandwidth, according to the paper. He also said he would like to buy the Wall Street Journal, although admitting that it is not for sale.
