Media buyers are wondering where the ambitious online programming site, touted by AOL months ago, has gone, reports Mediaweek.
Last April AOL held an event, similar to a television upfront, to showcase its slate of original web programming. Ad buyers seemed interested, if cautiously so. Since then, little information has trickled out regarding the progress of the promised shows.
AOL says plans are still churning to bring a slate of programs to the small screen. But considering the show concepts presented were met with concerns over the freshness of the ideas and the sizable cost of buying in, some are wondering if there aren't bigger troubles facing AOL.
Many of the show concepts thrown out involved significant integration with an advertiser's brand. That no one has heard from AOL about the logistics of such integration likely means production on these shows have simply not begun.
