CNET: Microsoft tops its earnings expectations

Deep in Microsoft's financial results reporting came a progress report for its MSN division, which reported 35 percent gains in revenue to $77 million for the quarter, largely due to gains in advertising sales. Microsoft reported generally good results, having earned $2.9 billion in profits, up about 12 percent from the previous year.
