MSN Signs up Honda, Verizon; Includes Branded Entertainment

MSN has again signed up Honda and Verizon Wireless as the exclusive advertisers for Rockstar.MSN.com, the companion site to CBS's "Rock Star: Supernova" (last year, "Rock Star: INXS") reality show from Mark Burnett, reports MediaWeek. The show premiers tonight on CBS, and is already available on MSN - which has customized branded entertainment packages for both advertisers.

For Honda, MSN has produced a fantasy game: Fans enter Honda-hosted betting pools, attempting to predict which contestant for lead singer in the band will win. For Verizon, MSN has built a mobile-themed microsite: Fans can build Supernova screensavers for their cell phones.

MSN apparently continues to make online branded entertainment a focus of its advertising offerings, despite reports earlier this year that such efforts might be cut back.
